Singapore Passes Law to Counter Foreign Interference After 10 hour Parliament Debate

FICA is one way to protect our country stability and fellow citizens.

But it is very worrying that Ministers are given wide ranging power to impose foreign interference countermeasures act (FICA) on anyone who they believe as politically significant person (PSP).

Constitutional system of governance, our courts are vested with the power to decide all disputes. Judicial review is where our judges review the legality of the Government's actions. It is the utmost important role that the constitution entrusts to the judiciary. Court's judicial review powers cannot be left out by any ordinary piece of legislation.

Harpreet Singh Nehal, Senior Counsel had also wrote an article on FICA on the 28 Sep 2021 which show 3 areas of concern.

Irresponsible Leaders are Leading Singapore into Another Lockdown

Singaporeans have made themselves heard many times regarding the shoddy management of the Covid-19 situation. But it appears that government leaders are not listening.

We told them to be responsible with opening our borders. The ICA allowed foreigners from high-risk countries to enter Singapore on visit passes, even for dubious “girlfriend” relationships.

We highlighted that enforcement action must be stepped up in hot-spot areas, but they seemed more concerned with deploying Safe Distancing Ambassadors to police the heartlands.

The PAP Must Accept its Part in Systemic Racism Issues and Not Just Blame Singaporeans

Finance Minister Lawrence Wong's speech at the IPS-RSIS forum appears to shift the blame of inherent systemic racism to the Singaporeans.

Or, in short, it’s always our fault.

Mr Wong says Singaporeans cannot accept a minority as Prime Minister.

From 2016 to 2021, in numerous public polls, a vast majority of Singaporeans have been calling for former DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam to lead the country.

It is the PAP that chose otherwise, not Singaporeans.
